Matua Pasifika Te Taumata

Matua Pasifika Te Taumata is a merge of Matua Pasefika & Te Taumata o te Whau roopu 
 

They are actively involved in community from Powhiri, blessings, openings, attending events, consultation with Maori or Pasefika and a focus on health & well-being for Maori & Pasefika elderly. A time for shared stories, crafts, food, singing and laughter.  


This roopu is coordinated by our Community Support Worker. 

Monthly Meeting: 10.30am - 12:00pm

Kelston Cosy Club

Kelston Cosy Club is a Community-led group of vibrate senior citizens, who love to get together for Housie every Wednesday morning. 

They play the ukelele, the spoons and enjoy a sing along from time to time before they play housie and shared morning tea.
They also go out for group lunches or outings.

Please note Fees apply to join and play.
Registrations required for this group & can sometimes have a waiting list.

This group is run by Whaea Mihi Angell and her group of volunteers.

Taking the chance to catch up with friends and enjoy the face-to-face interactions.

Abundant Box Project provides support to help families get through challenging times. 

Workshops are provided either free or at a small cost.
Workshops like preserves, chutney making, jams and how to make your own washing and cleaning products to use within the home.

If you would like to be on the list for any upcoming workshops you can contact our Project Coordinator.  

PLEASE NOTE: We NO longer provide food support, If you are in need of food support or a parcel, please contact MSD or a local food bank in your area.

Garden workshops here at the hub.   Learn how to build and maintain your own garden, to creating your own compost and lots more.  Our garden coordinator is here to support those who want to learn how to germinate seed, prepare the soil for planting and what to plant at different seasons.

There is a small charge of $5.00 per workshop. However learn on the go free of charge by volunteering on a Thursday or Friday from 10am - 1pm.

Different topics, and some workshops are repeated due to high demand.  Watch this space for up and coming workshops, or keep an eye out for updates on our Facebook page.

KELSTON HOMEGROWN NETWORK:

  • Keen to share gardening tips and learn from others?

Come join our local Kelston Homegrown Network! We try to meet once a month and shared morning tea together.

HOMEGROWN, HOME-MADE, HAND-MADE MARKET
Encouraging and support local small businesses & entrepreneurs of all ages create a space where they can market their products.

KELSTON KONNECT

This is a space where we can support Kelston to connect with one another on a community platform. This includes connection with our local school. 

ANNUAL AGED FRIENDLY & MATARIKI EVENTS

Every year our seniors help create events or wananga's that support and encourages aged friendliness.
 

Our annual Matariki event is also focused around making sure it is aged friendly and accessible. Our aim is to make sure our kaumatua and kuia have a comfortable and safe space to enjoy celebrating Matariki.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS 

Kelston Community Hub are encouraging education and offer workshops around how to plan and be prepared in the case of an emergency.  These are promoted and advertised on our socials.
